It was on a warm summer evening,
during the village festival of Douelle,
that Janine and Bernard
met for the first time.
Not long after, they married
and turned this house into
what would become known
as The House with Yellow Shutters.
With love and care,
Janine and Bernard
transformed the house,
honoring the traditions of Quercy.
Every corner of the home
was imbued with their passion
and attention to detail,
making it a place
where stories were shared,
meals were savored,
and life was celebrated.
Years later, their granddaughter
Julia created Les Volets Jaunes
to honor this heritage.
Through photography workshops
held in this unique setting,
she brings together
international artists
and the inspiring people
of the Lot region,
continuing the story
of creativity and connection.

Par une douce soirée d’été,
lors de la fête du village de Douelle,
Janine et Bernard
se rencontrèrent pour la première fois.
Peu de temps après, ils se marièrent
et firent de cette maison
ce qui allait devenir
La Maison aux Volets Jaunes.
Avec amour et soin,
Janine et Bernard
transformèrent la maison,
en respectant les traditions du Quercy.
Chaque recoin de leur foyer
était imprégné de leur passion
et de leur souci du détail,
faisant de ce lieu un espace
où les histoires se partageaient,
où les repas étaient savourés,
et où la vie était célébrée.
Des années plus tard,
leur petite-fille Julia

Based in Toulouse, Julia Castel is a visual artist focused in photography and graphic design.
She is passionate about creating projects with strong identities and meaningful messages.
Alongside her work
as a designer, Julia produces photography workshops
and collaborates closely with photographers she admires.
Trained at the Saint-Cyprien Photography School,
her artistic approach is deeply rooted in sensitivity
and instinct.
